Brunch @ Sonsie, 327 Newbury Street, Boston, MA

It's a bit strange that I've never had brunch at Sonsie's.  Typically, I am drawn there for after work/after hair appointment cocktails and small bites or dinner.

After a failed attempt at afternoon Tea at the London Cafe (at least we met Alice & her tea party), we ventured further up Newbury St. to Sonsie's for a bite to eat and I'm glad we did!

I love brunch with the girls!

Breakfast breads:

French toast is my friend D.P's absolute go-to-brunch item.  She was pretty taken with Sonsie's version:
French toast with rum bananas, caramel sauce and a mint sprig

My other friend ordered a toasted tuna salad sandwich which was served with house-made sweet pickles, and russet potato chips.

Tuna salad sandwich

I REALLY enjoyed the frittata with cauliflower, spicy sausage, ricotta, parsley, potatoes (home fries).  My infamous love affair with cauliflower was satisfied along with the innovative addition of rich ricotta dollops!  The sausage was just spicy enough and made for a balanced dish along with the creamy ricotta and herbaceous parsley.  I loved this dish!

The hash is also a good pick: made with sliced pastrami, roasted chicken, onion, pepper, potato, and topped with a poached eggs ( I ordered mine fried....it was soft fried)

It's always nice to experience a creative breakfast hash; something unlike the traditional corned beef hash.  (My other favorite breakfast hashes: Townhouse NYC and ESKD Boston)

Though both the pastrami and pulled chicken were a tad bit overcooked, the flavors were present and the dish pretty good.

When (or if you have) checked out Sonsie's brunch, please let me know which was your favorite dish.

Also check out their great dinner menu and the wine room downstairs!
