Lovin’ Spoonfuls Named One of Final 26 Startups in 2012 MassChallenge

(BOSTON, MA)— On Friday, October 5th, 2012 Boston-based non-profit Lovin’ Spoonfuls was named one of the 26 final startups in the 2012 MassChallenge. The 2012 installment of the multimillion-dollar startup competition launched on March 1st, 2012 and attracted the largest pool of applicants yet, with 1,237 entrants from 35 countries and 36 U.S. states. The 125 highest-impact, highest-potential startups were invited to participate in a 3-month accelerator program providing intensive mentoring and access to free resources including office space, legal support and targeted introductions to customers and funding sources.
The final 26 teams will pitch their startups to the last round of judges who will identify 10 to 20 winning startups who split $1 million in cash awards. The winners will be announced at the MassChallenge Awards Ceremony on Tuesday, October 23rd, 2012. There are no strings attached to the funding or competition MassChallenge is a 501(c)(3) non-profit and does not take equity from winners or place any restrictions on entrants.
MassChallenge is the largest-ever startup accelerator and competition, and the first to support high-impact, early-stage entrepreneurs. It was named one of the best organizations for supporting high-growth entrepreneurs by President Obama in 2011.
"I'm incredibly proud that Lovin’ 'Spoonfuls has been identified by the MassChallenge as a high-impact organization serving the Commonwealth. Our mission, while simple in application, catalyzes change beyond direct hunger-relief. Through our work, we address health and nutrition, as well as the environmental and financial consequences that stem from poor distribution and access of fresh, healthy food. It's a privilege to come to work every day,” said Ashley Stanley, Founder and Executive Director of Lovin’ Spoonfuls.
