Living in major cities, we all partake in a number of cultural events as we are surrounded by so many people of different backgrounds and origins. I have been having food and cocktail events in my home for friends for years, but I decided to focus on the diversity of my group of fabulous friends for my Holiday party this year.
Everyone was encouraged to bring a dish representative of their history/culture. I was pleasantly surprised to note that rice is a major component in many cuisines around the world. We had food with origins in Japan, Puerto Rico, Guyana, Jamaica, Poland, India, Russia, Thailand, and the U.S.
We drank bubbles, bourbon punch, and ate to our heart's content. Oh, and them we sang karaoke!
